Grass Valley, California

Grass Valley is a city of approximately 13,000 residents in Nevada County in the beautiful state of California. Nestled at the foothills of Sierra Nevada, the city is part if the California Gold Country. Grass Valley was incorporated in 1860, several years after its boom due to the California Gold Rush. The city was once home to two of the state’s richest mines, the Empire Mine and the North Star Mine. Today, Grass Valley is a city that thrives on technology and tourism. With its fine weather, laidback atmosphere, and stunning beauty combined with great restaurants and excellent recreation and shopping opportunities, Grass Valley welcomes thousands of visitors every year.

When to Visit

The city enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. Anytime is almost a great time to visit Grass Valley because of its perfect Californian climate. The city also holds various annual festivals and events that lure visitors from nearby cities and states. The Foothills Celebration in March is an interesting event that combines food and art. Taking a walking tour through the historic downtown Grass Valley offers plenty of opportunities for shopping, dining, and exploring old Victorian homes.
