The United Kingdom or UK should be in every traveller’s bucket list. It’s one of the most popular destinations in Europe because of its rich history, cultural heritage, giant estates and art preservation.

UK is a big country and planning for a travel itinerary can be overwhelming. If you’re not sure which cities to explore, below are some of the places that are easy to go to for a visit.

London: A must-see city

While some people prefer not to drop by London when in UK, first-time travellers should lock this in in their travel plans. Make sure that you make time to see the Tower of London which is a World Heritage site, and go to the Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard. Of course, you also wouldn’t want to miss taking a postcard-worthy photo of Big Ben and the chance to visit Westminster Abbey.

Oxfordshire: Idyllic meadows and dreamy sceneries

Oxford is one of the most popular destinations in Europe because of its green landscape, well-preserved palace estates and of course, to see the architectural works in the University of Oxford. Visiting the place will give you a sense of peace after hectic tours in the busier parts of Europe. Watch varsity teams train or students relax in the quadrangle during their break. Make sure that you also add historical real-estates and palaces to your schedule as well as a quick pub crawl, to have a drink or two in some of Oxford’s popular pubs. There are hotels in Oxfordshire that you can stay in so you can get around the city easily.

Edinburgh: Home of the royal fortress

Edinburgh is a well-known city in Scotland and is a favourite amongst history lovers. The Edinburgh Castle, a royal fortress from the 13th century, is one of the many historic buildings to see. It’s where the Scottish Crown Jewels are kept as well as the Stone of Destiny, which was only returned to its rightful owner after hundreds of years in London. Other landmarks to visit is the Old Town’s Royal Mile, Palace of Holy rood house and Princes Street.

Stonehenge: A place of worship

Stonehenge is one of the oldest World Heritage Sites. It’s a place of pilgrimage for 4,500 years and today, people from all over the world visit it to see this monument with their very own eyes. The visitor centre also gives you the opportunity to learn more about the history and construction of Stonehenge. Planning is the key, so make sure that you buy the ticket months ahead of your travel date to lock it in.

Remember that you don’t have to limit your travel within city limits because there’s so much to see in Great Britain. Getting around nearby towns isn’t an issue because transportation is available and convenient to use. If you feel like you’re already due for a holiday, UK is one of the best countries to go to. With proper planning, your trip will surely be a memorable one.
