Smith · May 20, 2018 · Leave a Comment

There’s perhaps nowhere that screams “the great outdoors’ quite like Spokane.

A not-so-hidden gem of the Pacific Northwest, Spokane is a fantastic destination for nature lovers of all shapes and sizes.

Are you a family looking to get acclimated with nature? Check.

Are you a couple looking for a honeymoon hotspot or quiet weekend getaway? You’ve got it.

Or are you just traveling solo, hunting for some serious adventure for your next trip? Hey, Spokane has you covered.

From gorgeous forests to the city’s close proximity to mountains and awesome rafting, tourists have no shortage of options in terms of how they spend their precious vacation time in nature. You can maximize your time spent in the great outdoors by renting an RV in Spokane, but what should you do to fill up your travel itinerary?

Fear not! We’ve outlined our top five options below that will not only help you see Spokane right, but also allow you to spend some serious time in nature.

Manito Park

Boasting five parks and no shortage of trails to explore, the 90 acres of Manito Park are totally free to visit and is essential for flower lovers. A favorite for locals and tourists alike, this serene spot is perfect for a romantic stroll or simply somewhere to relax without worrying about what to do next. As a tip, be sure to check out the lilac and rose gardens, respectively.

Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden

These gardens are actually part of Manito Park but most definitely deserve their very own spot on our list of must-sees. Photos taken at the Japanese Garden speak for themselves in terms of natural beauty, featuring a waterfall, koi pond and beautiful blossoming trees year-round.

Green Bluff

The various farms in this scenic bluff serve up local produce and are constantly running events during the harvest season. Whether it’s pumpkins, apples or a sip from a nearby winery, there’s plenty to see and sample while you’re here. As a tip, strive to come early as crowds do tend to form later in the day.

Centennial Trail

Highlighted as some of the best biking in Spokane, this trail represents a spectacular spot for anyone looking to hit the pavement. Offering up views of rapids and waterfalls across nearly 38 miles of trail, those trekking Centennial don’t have to worry about cars which is a nice touch for those looking to stop and take a snapshot.

Riverfront Park

Located in the heart of downtown Spokane, this park is a great stop for those exploring the city proper.

There’s plenty to do year-round, including the carousel, gondola rides and ice-skating during the winter. If nothing else, a stroll near the Spokane River is a nice way to round out any given day. Oh, and be sure to also peek the nearby Spokane Falls and Monroe Street Dam while you’re there.

If you’re checking out the Pacific Northwest, don’t neglect the awesome attractions and sights that Spokane has to offer. No matter who you’re traveling with or if you’re simply flying solo, there’s definitely something for you in the Lilac City.
