Surprising Things in Your Home That You Should Probably Replace

Smith · May 17, 2021 · Leave a Comment

There are a lot of things in your home. Even if you are living the minimalist lifestyle that a lot of people like to switch over to, there is still a lot of stuff in your home. You might not know this, but some things need to be replaced more often than others. The things that break obviously need replacing. But what about the things that don’t break? There are tons of things in your home that you don’t think you have to replace, but you really should. Here are just a few from that list.

Your mattress

If you have had your current mattress for over eight years, it is well past time to replace it. This is for many reasons. You are going to get worse sleep as you continue to use an old mattress because it is no longer fluffy and full of stuffing. It is misshapen and lumpy. It has dust and dander from years of use. It is time to throw it out and buy something new and more comfortable. Go online and search for mattress stores near me so that you can get yourself a new bed that is comfortable and fresh.

Your coffee maker

While this might be something that you replace every few years already just so you can get the newest model, you should really be replacing your coffee maker more often than that. If you notice a little hesitation, a strange scent, or it takes a little longer to heat up in the morning, you should look into replacing it as soon as possible.

Your microwave

Your microwave needs to be replaced every few years. If you notice that the cooking times are inconsistent with how hot it makes your food, some days it’s warmer and some days it’s colder when the time hasn’t changed, then it is definitely time to look into a new microwave.

Your toilet seat

This is something that you really do use every single day. Even if you are giving your bathroom the cleaning that it deserves every week, you still need to replace your toilet seat every few years. This will keep it from getting dirty and spreading more germs. Plus, you don’t have to worry about it breaking when you have had it for a long time.

Your air conditioner

This is something that you should consider replacing every ten years. This is just to prevent you from having a really hot summer with no relaxation or cooling available. It is still important to make sure that your air conditioner is new and powerful for that just-in-case purpose.

Your couch

Your couch should be replaced every seven years if you have a large family that makes it the center of their world when they are at home. However, if it is only you and another family member, and the couch is rarely ever used, it is possible to keep it around a while longer without losing the fluff.

Your dinner table

When a table is being used every single day, you will notice stains that you can’t get out, chips that can’t be fixed, and wobbliness in the legs that won’t stop no matter how many times that you try to stop it from moving. These are just things that you can’t help when you have a dinner table that is used frequently. Make sure that you keep your table sturdiness in check and if it starts to drop even a little bit, know that the rest is downhill from here, so you might want to go ahead and replace it.

Some of these things might not need to be replaced within the time range given. It all depends on the model and version of the item that you have bought. You could get something from this list that will stick around to see your great-grandkids as long as these things are taken care of properly. But these are the things that you should look out for so that you are prepared for when it is time to replace it, rather than being caught off guard.
