Pot for Your Furbabies? 4 Things You Need to Know About Hemp Oil for Pets

Smith · March 6, 2019 · Leave a Comment

As CBD and other hemp products have become increasingly popular among the population, many have begun to wonder: will it work for my pet?

Unfortunately, like humans, pet’s tend to fall ill or subject to health complications throughout their lives. Just like many people have decided to end the suffering with medical cannabis, so too can your pet!

Here are four things you need to know about hemp oil for pets!

1. Hemp Oil For Pets Has Tons of Benefits

Just like humans, CBD and hemp oil has a load of benefits and works great as a treatment option for several conditions. Hemp oil can have these positive effects:

  • Pain relief
  • Anxiety relief
  • Manage inflammation
  • Prevent arthritis
  • Prevent cancer

Hemp oil has also been known to work well for dogs who have gastrointestinal issues, allergies, and heart disease. This stuff can really do a world of a difference for your pet without having to go to the vet and get expensive prescription meds.

2. Hemp Oil is Safer Than Fish Oil

Many people have tried giving fish oil to their pets, only to find that they react negatively to it. This is because the process of making fish oil actually destabilizes it, which can increase inflammation in the body.

This is particularly counter-intuitive, as most people give their dogs and cats fish oil as a means to reduce inflammation. Not to increase it.

Hemp oil is much more stable, and therefore a better option for fighting inflammation-related symptoms and conditions.

3. Make Sure You’re Getting the Right Stuff

It can be easy to mix cannabis and hemp products up, especially when talking about CBD oil. However, it is extremely important that you are using hemp oil, and not CBD oil from cannabis.

This is because cannabis is likely to contain at least a trace amount of THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid found in marijuana.

While a small amount won’t necessarily hurt your pet, it’s wise to avoid it altogether, as there is a potential risk. Ensure that the product you are purchasing is 100 percent CBD from a company like the folks at https://highlandpharms.com/cbd-for-dogs-pets.

4. Start Slow

While there is some pretty solid evidence that CBD works just as well for pets as it does for humans, there just isn’t enough conclusive long-term research to back it up.

Do your pet a favor, and just start out slow. Allow them to adjust to the effects of it a bit at a time so that they don’t have any adverse reactions. Though, there haven’t been reports of this happening so far.

With the recent legalization of hemp, there will certainly be more studies being done to not only follow the effects and benefits of CBD on humans but on pets as well. Stay tuned for that!

Happy Dog, Happy Life

You love your pet like they are a real member of your family, and you want to treat them as such. Give them the opportunity to feel the same amazing effects from CBD as we humans have.

Hemp oil for pets is still a new phenomenon but will become increasingly popular as time goes on. For more great articles about lifestyle, home, and travel, head on over to our blog!
