How to Pick the Perfect Reading Chair for Your Home

Smith · May 20, 2019 · Leave a Comment

The perfect reading chair can make or break your living room. You want it to be comfortable, but you also want it to stand out!

When someone walks into your home, your reading chair should say a lot about who you are.

Without that ideal reading chair, your living room can feel empty and unfinished. You want people, including yourself, to want to stay in your living room!

But how do you go about picking out a chair that will really pull the room together? Keep reading to find out how you can take your living room from drab to fab!

Reading Chair 101: The Chosen One

When finding that perfect reading chair, there are 2 primary objectives – comfort and style.

Comfortability is Key

Comfort is hugely important! You’re going to be sitting in this chair for sometimes hours on end. So you want something that isn’t going to leave you stiff and in pain when you’re done.

Comfort can mean different things to different people. Some people like to slouch and just sink into a chair until they melt together into an oddly satisfying amoebic state. Finding the right cushions and chair size can really help with this.

Other people like a more firm and supportive chair. Whatever you do, find something that is going to work for you for long periods of time

Killer Style

The second part of finding the perfect reading chair is style. If a chair is comfortable, but it looks like you dragged it out of a 1970’s basement, you might be in trouble.

Before even looking at chairs, get an idea for the feel and flow you want for your living room. Do you want something modern or classic?

If your living room is already styled in a certain way, you want to make sure your new reading chair fits in with what you have.

If your living room is designed around muted, earthy tones, you don’t want a bright pink chair. The perfect reading chair should pull the room together, not stand out like a sore thumb. And if you really want to up your style game, you could always add an Eames chair.

Add Something Extra

A comfortable chair is great, but what do you do with your feet?

You could definitely find a reading chair that is also a recliner. But a recliner may not be the perfect fit for you.

A wonderful addition to your perfect reading chair would be nice, matching ottoman. What is an ottoman? It’s that little island that allows you to relax, throw your feet up and dive head first into your next epic novel.

Kick Back and Relax!

Now that you know how to find that perfect reading chair, it’s time to go shopping!

Once you’ve found it, grab one of your all-time favorite books and break in that chair the right way! By getting lost in the world of your favorite characters!
