By remembering these things, you should be able to find someone who you’ll enjoy working with and will be able to do the job effectively.

Know Exactly What You Need
Before you can hope to hire someone who’s going to be able to do that job you’re needing and will be enjoyable for you to work with, you first need to have a very firm grasp on exactly what you’re wanting and needing from this new hire. Otherwise, you could very easily get distracted by other things during the interview process and now get the information you need to make a hiring decision.
If there are specific traits or abilities that you want in someone that you’re going to be working with, make sure you write these things down and come up with questions that will help you determine if the person you’re interviewing will have these qualities.
Take Things Slow
If you don’t have a lot of experience with interviewing people, you might be feeling a little nervous about conducting interviews. Because of this, you might find yourself wanting to rush through the process. But if you do this, you likely won’t be able to glean as much as you could have from the people you’re interviewing.
Rather, it’s wise to try to take things slow when you’re doing an interview. Take some time to get to know the person and for them to get to know you. Then, move on to more probing questions about their previous work, their abilities, and more. Try not to rush them when they’re speaking, as their answers can reveal a lot about them.
Ask Them To Tell You Stories
For some people, knowing what questions to ask during an interview can be hard. One thing you might want to try if you’re struggling is to have your interviewee tell you stories about themselves and their work experience.
Consider asking your interviewee how they handled a certain situation in their past or what they’d do if they were faced with a particular situation. You could also ask them to tell you about a time where someone did or didn’t happen for them to see how they responded and how you feel about the actions they did or didn’t take.
